Here’s a fun Thanksgiving activity where kids can color bingo cards and play Thanksgiving Bingo using marshmallows as markers! This combines creativity, a game, and a tasty treat.
Materials Needed
- Printable Thanksgiving Bingo Cards (you can use the one on the last page)
- Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils
- Provide a variety of festive colors like orange, yellow, brown, and red.
- Mini Marshmallows
- Enough for each child to use as bingo markers (plus extras for snacking!).
- Matching images or words for the bingo items to pull randomly.
- Calling cards
- Bowl for Calling Cards
- A small bowl or basket to hold the cards.
Step 1: Coloring the Bingo Cards
- Set Up the Workspace
- Clear a table, spread some newspaper or tablecloth, and give each child a bingo card and coloring supplies.
- Explain the Theme. Briefly discuss the Thanksgiving items on the card, such as turkeys, pumpkins, pies, and autumn leaves.
- Encourage children to color the images on their cards however they like.
- Suggest patterns, festive color combinations, or even writing their names to personalize their cards.
Step 2: Set Up for Bingo Play
- Prepare the Calling Cards
- Cut out small cards that match the images or words on the bingo cards and place them in a bowl.
- Distribute Marshmallows
- Give each child a small pile of mini marshmallows to use as markers.
- Remind them to resist eating all their pieces right away!
Step 3: Play Thanksgiving Bingo
- Call Out Images
- Hold up the calling card so they can match it with the image on their bingo board.
- Mark with Marshmallows
- Kids place a marshmallow on the corresponding square when the image is called.
Celebrate Bingo Wins and let the children snack on their marshmallows as a sweet reward!
